Unique business model of Gen-Z: Foreign guests instead of relatives in wedding, earning Rs 25,000 per person

New Delhi. Indian weddings are famous all over the world for their grandeur, delicious dishes, drums and long lasting rituals, but today's GenZ generation (young class) is not only maintaining the traditions but also finding a source of income from it. These days, a unique business model is increasingly becoming a topic of discussion on social media and the internet. Under this trend, instead of inviting taunting relatives from far away places, youth are inviting international tourists to their weddings and are charging huge amounts of money from them in return.

It is being named 'Wedding Tourism'. According to reports and online platforms, tickets are being sold to foreign tourists visiting India to experience the real-life Indian wedding celebration. Around Rs 12,000 to Rs 25,000 ($150 to $300) are being charged for a tourist to attend the one- or two-day event.

How does this business work?

Registration on the platform: Couples getting married enter details of their wedding date, venue and rituals on such startups and websites.

ticket sales: Foreign tourists coming to India buy entry passes or tickets to attend weddings through these websites.

Foreign guests are advised to wear Indian traditional clothing (such as lehenga or kurta-pajama) and respect the customs.

win-win deal for both parties

This brain of GenZ is really considered worthy of praise. On one hand, the huge expenses of Indian weddings get reduced a bit, on the other hand, the bride and groom get freedom from uninvited taunting relatives who often find faults in the arrangements. A large part of the money received from ticket sales goes directly to the bride and groom, from which they defray the expenses of their catering or decoration.

On the other hand, for foreigners it becomes a memorable cultural experience. They enjoy dancing in the procession, tasting traditional food, getting mehendi applied and seeing the Indian culture closely.

People on the internet are praising this business idea and calling it a great way to have fun while earning money. This new incarnation of Indian weddings is truly a unique combination of modern thinking and business mindset.
