Ingredients for Kesar Badam Appe Cake
- 1 cup semolina (rava)
- flour as per requirement
- milk as per need
- Castor sugar
- 1-2 teaspoon ghee or oil
- 1 tsp baking powder
- some saffron strands
- finely chopped almonds
- 1 pinch cardamom powder
- water as per need
- almond slivers
- saffron fibers
How to make Kesar Badam Appe Cake?
1. First prepare saffron milk
Take some lukewarm milk in a bowl. Add some saffron strands to it and keep it for a few minutes. With this, the color and aroma of saffron will dissolve well in the milk.
2. Prepare appe cake batter
In a large bowl, add semolina, flour, powdered sugar, cardamom powder and baking powder. Now prepare the batter by adding milk little by little. After this add saffron milk and mix well.
Beat the batter well, so that there are no lumps in it. You can add some water as per need. Now add finely chopped almonds and mix. Keep the batter for some time, so that the semolina can swell properly.
Keep in mind: The batter should neither be too thin nor too thick. Keep its consistency such that the batter can be easily poured into the appe pan molds.

3. Heat the appe pan
Now place the appe pan on the gas and heat it on low to medium flame. Apply some ghee or oil in each mould. After this, pour the prepared batter into the molds one by one. Do not fill the molds completely, because the batter may swell during cooking.
4. Cook on both sides
If desired, add some almond slivers on top. Now cover the appe pan and let it cook for a few minutes on low flame. Check whether the cakes are cooked from inside by inserting a toothpick into the center. If the toothpick comes out clean, the appe cakes are ready.
This cake can be made without oven
The special thing about this recipe is that it does not require an oven. Soft and golden appe cakes can be prepared by cooking the batter in small portions in the appe pan itself.
