Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann
The Punjab government on Saturday held an important cabinet meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, in which several important decisions related to health services were taken. In this meeting, 251 new posts were approved to overcome the shortage of staff in hospitals. This is expected to improve the efficiency of the health department in various districts and provide better services to the patients.
New posts for Chamkaur Sahib Hospital
Chamkaur Sahib Hospital gets 33 new posts
The government has approved 33 new posts for the Sub-Divisional Hospital, Chamkaur Sahib. Its objective is to overcome the shortage of essential staff in the hospital, so that patients can get better treatment. Apart from this, 19 new posts will be created in the health department of Malerkotla, which includes posts like Chief Medical Officer, Assistant Civil Surgeon and District Family Welfare Officer. After the formation of the new district, these appointments are considered important in strengthening the health administration. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that the main objective of these new posts is to overcome the shortage of staff in government institutions.

To increase the number of doctors in the health institutions of Punjab, 80 posts of medical and dental officers have been approved. Additionally, 119 new posts will be created for sub-divisional hospitals and new maternal and child health centres. The government believes that these posts will increase the availability of essential staff in hospitals and make it easier to provide services to patients. The Cabinet also approved amendment in the rules of Group-A and creation of new posts in the Punjab Public Service Commission, which will pave the way to increase the required staff in the health sector and government system.
Food policies approved
Four policies related to food grains also approved
Apart from health, policies related to food grains were also decided in the cabinet meeting. The government approved the Punjab Custom Milling Policy, Procurement Marketing Season-2026, Punjab Food Grain Carriage Policy-2027 and Punjab Food Grain Labor and Cartage Policy-2027. The objective of these policies is to manage the procurement, transportation and labor system of food grains in a better way. Along with this, amendment in Group-A rules of Punjab Public Service Commission has also been approved.
