Formula 1 and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) have unveiled the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar, featuring 24 Grands Prix across 22 countries and 10 Sprint events, following approval by the World Motor Sport Council.
Pre-season testing will be held in Bahrain from February 24 to 27, ahead of the first race of the season also taking place there. The calendar then moves to Saudi Arabia, Australia, Japan, China, Miami, and Canada.
The European portion of the season includes Formula 1’s return to Portugal in June following the Monaco Grand Prix. Turkey will rejoin the calendar in October, positioned between Azerbaijan and Singapore. The final phase will see races in Austin, Mexico City, São Paulo, Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.
The 2027 calendar spans five continents, combining historic venues and major global destinations with a focus on efficient geographical progression to support Formula 1’s growth and sustainability goals.
Due to strong demand for the format, the number of Sprint events increases from six to ten in 2027. Since their introduction in 2021, Sprint weekends have attracted 12% higher total viewership than non-Sprint weekends, with Sprint Qualifying being up to three times more popular than Free Practice sessions. Surveys indicate that 82% of attendees believe Sprint weekends add value to their tickets, and 75% of F1 fans feel Sprint events enhance the season’s calendar.
Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Monaco, and Abu Dhabi will host Sprint events for the first time. Notably, Monaco will feature two Sprint qualifying sessions, showcasing drivers’ skill and precision on the narrow streets of Monte Carlo. Sprint events will also return to Montréal, Silverstone, Monza, São Paulo, and Lusail, providing more competitive action across race weekends.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem highlighted that the 2027 calendar demonstrates the sport’s global expansion, with 24 Grands Prix across five continents, the return of Portugal and Turkey, and an extended Sprint programme. He expressed gratitude to Formula One Management, promoters, sporting authorities, officials, volunteers, and other stakeholders for their efforts in strengthening the championship and improving the experience for teams and fans.

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali described the 2027 calendar as featuring iconic circuits and cities, welcoming the returns of Portugal and Turkey, and expanding Sprint races to ten events.
