This award is being given in view of his long contribution to Indian cinema. Anant Nag will be presented this honor at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony to be held on 22 September 2026 at Ekta Nagar, Kevadiya, Gujarat. President Draupadi Murmu will present the National Film Awards in this ceremony.

Dadasaheb Phalke Award is one of the major national honors given in Indian cinema. It is given in recognition of an artist’s long contribution and achievements in cinema. In 2025, the award for 2023 was presented to actor Mohanlal, while in 2024, Mithun Chakraborty received the honor for 2022.
