Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab's Media Incharge Baltej Pannu on Sunday called the people of entire Punjab to participate in the 'Jashn-e-Inquilab' program being held at Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) Ground in Ludhiana on September 28, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. Describing it as a celebration of Punjab's rich cultural heritage, music, history and legacy of martyrs, Baltej Pannu said that the program will gather people from across the state including Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Ministers and MLAs.
Addressing a press conference, AAP Punjab media in-charge Baltej Pannu said, “The 'Jashn-e-Inquilab' program is dedicated to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and will celebrate the culture, music, history and glorious heritage of Punjab. The program will start at 3 pm at PAU Ground, Ludhiana and I appeal to Punjabis from every corner of the state to join the celebration with their families.”
He said, “The famous play 'Gagan Damama Bajiyo' will be presented during the programme, while well-known Punjabi artistes like Ranjit Bawa and Kulwinder Billa and renowned Dhadi troupe will perform. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, ministers, MLAs and people from across Punjab will participate in the event.”
Remembering the martyrs associated with Punjab's revolutionary legacy, he said, “Along with Martyr Bhagat Singh, we will also remember Martyr Sukhdev and Martyr Rajguru of Ludhiana. Their sacrifice is an important part of our history, and through this program we want to ensure that the new generation remains connected to their legacy.”
Appealing to families and youth to attend the function, Baltej Pannu said, “I appeal to every Punjabi to come to the PAU grounds with their families and be a part of this celebration. Our new generation should know our history, understand the sacrifices of our martyrs and be proud of the rich cultural heritage of Punjab.”
He especially appealed to turban-wearing Punjabis to join the celebrations by wearing yellow turbans and said, “I especially request all the turban-wearing brothers to come wearing yellow turbans and be a part of this historic celebration. Let us all together celebrate the spirit, identity and heritage of Punjab.”
Baltej Pannu said that this program will showcase the special musical and cultural identity of Punjab. He further said, “Punjabi music has made its mark not only in Bollywood but all over the world. Through 'Jashn-e-Inquilab' we want to showcase the different shades of music, culture and traditions of Punjab.”
He said, “We want to bring back the spirit of 'Rangla Punjab', a Punjab that sings, dances, celebrates its culture and is proud of its heritage. Punjab has a wonderful cultural identity and it is important for our new generation to be connected to it.”
Referring to the increasing participation of youth in sports and public functions, Baltej Pannu said, “The large participation of the youth of Punjab in the recently held marathon is a testimony to the changing environment of the state. Around 25,000 young men and women participated in the marathon held in Bathinda. This is a befitting reply to those who tried to create a negative image of Punjab and its youth through 'Udta Punjab'.”
He said that the Bhagwant Singh Mann government is creating good opportunities for the youth from 2022, “From 2022 onwards, the Bhagwant Singh Mann government is continuously working to provide good options to our young generation through sports and other activities. We want our youth to be seen in playgrounds, sports events and work activities.”
Throwing light on sports infrastructure, AAP Punjab's media in-charge said, “The government has developed 3,100 sports grounds across Punjab, of which about 750 have been completed, while work on the remaining sports grounds is underway. Initiatives like 'Khedan Watan Punjab Diyaan' and 'Youth Run' are giving a platform to our youth to participate in sports and showcase their talent.”
Welcoming Punjab's hosting of an international hockey tournament, he said, “Punjab has produced some of the best players in the history of Indian hockey, but the state had never hosted such an international tournament before. Now organizing the international hockey tournament in Jalandhar and Mohali next month is a big achievement for Punjab.”
Talking about the state government's work in farming and water management, Baltej Pannu said, “When the Bhagwant Singh Mann government came in, the use of canal water in Punjab was around 22%. Today, it has increased to more than 88%. Higher use of canal water is helping Punjab save its precious groundwater and the groundwater level has also improved in many places.”
He said, “The Bhagwant Mann government is working to reduce the financial burden on common families. Providing 600 units of free electricity every two months has brought great relief to those families who earlier found it difficult to pay electricity bills.”
Talking about the government's healthcare initiatives, Baltej Pannu said, “Through the Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana, families are getting cashless health insurance up to Rs 10 lakh. Such initiatives are helping common families avoid the burden of huge financial burden during treatment.”
Praising the work of the 'Road Safety Force', he said, “The Road Safety Force has greatly strengthened the process of providing help during road accidents. Its prompt action helps accident victims get timely help, thereby contributing to curbing deaths on the roads of Punjab.”
Baltej Pannu said that participation in sports, culture and public activities with enthusiasm is making a comeback in Punjab. He further added, “Today, our youth are seen taking to sports fields, participating in marathons and other creative activities. This is the Punjab we want to see – a Punjab that celebrates its culture, remembers its martyrs and provides good opportunities to its youth.”
Making a final appeal to Punjabis, he said, “I appeal to all the people of Punjab to reach the PAU Ground in Ludhiana with their families at 3 pm on September 28. Let us all remember Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev and Shaheed Rajguru and celebrate the culture, music, traditions and spirit that have given Punjab a distinct identity.”
Baltej Pannu appealed, “Let us make ‘Jashn-e-Inquilab’ a big celebration of the legacy of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and the unbreakable spirit of Punjab.”
