Delhi Police's Crime Branch has arrested Harendra Nagar alias KD in connection with an alleged conspiracy to extort Rs 1 crore from a Rohini-based financier. According to the police, the accused had asked for money in the name of providing security to the financier. He had allegedly come to Delhi with the intention of killing her when she refused payment.
Arrest after siege in Rohini Sector-24
According to the police, on September 9, the crime branch received information that Nagar was present in Delhi and was making threatening calls to the financier. His location was ascertained on the basis of technical monitoring. After this, he was surrounded and arrested near a drain in Rohini Sector-24. During the search, two illegal pistols and 14 live cartridges were recovered from the accused. The police have registered a case against him under relevant sections and started investigation.
Also wanted in the robbery of 1.5 kg gold in Ambala
According to the police, Nagar was also wanted in a gold jewelery robbery case registered at Baldev Nagar police station in Ambala, Haryana. On August 18, a case of looting of about 1.5 kg of gold jewelery from a van came to light.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly told that he had committed the robbery along with his associates Deepak and Chhotu and others. According to the police, Deepak was given the responsibility of selling the looted jewellery. Haryana Police has already arrested some accused in this case.
Alleged connection with Deepak Bhau gang
According to the police, Nagar claimed during interrogation that Deepak was associated with the Bhow gang and it was he who had provided him arms and cartridges. Police said that four cases including kidnapping for ransom, fraud, assault and possession of illegal weapons are already registered against Nagar in Delhi and Haryana. The crime branch is now investigating to identify and arrest other accused involved in the case.
