India and Pakistan have a chance to meet in the men's cricket final at the Asian Games 2026 after both arch-rivals advanced to the semi-finals without having to play their respective quarter-final matches. The matches between India and Afghanistan and Pakistan and Hong Kong were halted due to rain, leaving the higher seeds to advance to the last four.
The two teams have been placed on different sides of the knockout draw, meaning they cannot meet in the semi-finals. However, if both India and Pakistan win their respective semi-final matches on October 1, they will face each other in the gold-medal match on October 3.
India and Pakistan advance to Asian Games 2026 semi-finals
Pakistan had to face off against Hong Kong in the first quarter-final. While India had to battle Afghanistan in the second quarter-final, which was scheduled to happen on September 28. But both matches were called off due to bad weather conditions.
As per the rules set by the tournament, the higher-ranked team made it to the semi-finals in case of a wash-out. Thus, India and Pakistan advanced to the Knockout stage, thanks to their higher rankings in the ICC T20I team rankings.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will have to face the winner of the Bangladesh vs. Malaysia quarter-final in the first semi-final on October 1. On the other hand, India will tussle with the winner of Sri Lanka vs. Nepal quarter-final in the second semi-final.
So, if there is an India-Pakistan semi-final, the arch-rivals cannot face each other in the final, because they will be on opposite sides of the Knockout bracket.

However, if both teams win their respective semi-finals, then the rivals can clash at the Gold Medal match on October 3, which would be another exciting chapter of the tightly contested cricketing rivalry.
But to see an India-Pakistan showdown in the Asian Games 2026 men's cricket final, both arch-rivals would have to win their respective semi-finals.
Also, there is a possibility that India and Pakistan can face each other in the Bronze Medal match. This will only happen if both teams lose their semi-final matches on October 1.
The Bronze Medal match and the Gold Medal match are scheduled to happen on October 3. So, the Asian Games 2026 men's cricket tournament could very well witness an India-Pakistan showdown in the business end of the tournament.
