Guna: In the program organized on International Senior Citizens Day, Guna MLA Pannalal Shakya has taken a sharp dig at modern parenting and changing family culture. He said that we worry about the academic marks of children since childhood only so that they can be sent abroad and get big packages.
MLA Shakya mainly expressed concern by saying, “We have put our children in a package, if we create such children then where will Shravan Kumar come from.” He further said that parents are forced to listen to the talk of going to old age home because we have raised such children. If we have stopped discussing Shravan Kumar in homes and have not taught him to love our people by teaching in local schools, then how can we expect good governance from the society.
Referring to his personal memoirs, he said that a friend had advised him to send his child to a residential school in Indore. Today, children are not told about Meera, Surdas's verses, Tulsidas' Chaupai or Kabir and Raskhan, rather they are given mobile phones due to which they remain engrossed in the same.
