AYUSH Ministry's advice for bathing and eating after yoga

Benefits of yoga and importance of proper timing

New Delhi: Currently, many people are including yoga in their daily routine to maintain their health. Doing yoga in the morning not only energizes the body, but it also helps in reducing mental stress and fatigue. Often, people go about their daily activities immediately after practicing yoga. In this context, the Ministry of AYUSH has advised to give rest to the body after yoga and keep proper gap between bath or meal.

The Ministry of AYUSH shared on social media that after practicing yoga, it is necessary to give some time to the body to return to normal state. According to the ministry, after doing yoga, it is better to wait 20 to 30 minutes before taking bath or eating food. During this time, one should remain calm and allow one's body to become comfortable, so that one can get a good interval to return to the routine after practicing yoga.

During yoga, there is a change in muscle activation and breathing rate. Therefore, it is beneficial to take some rest after exercise. Instead of rushing immediately after yoga, one should sit quietly, breathe normally and relax the body.

The Ministry of AYUSH has also shared some important things related to food for practicing yoga. A balanced and nutritious diet helps in keeping the body and mind ready for yoga. Generally, yoga practitioners are advised to follow a vegetarian diet. Additionally, eating twice a day may be sufficient for healthy individuals above 30 years of age. However, the needs of people with illnesses or greater physical activity may be different.

Yoga is not just a physical exercise, but it is an effective means of creating balance between body and mind. Various researches have found yoga to be beneficial for physical fitness, better function of muscles and bones, and heart health. Regular yoga practice can also be helpful in managing diabetes, high blood pressure, respiratory problems and lifestyle related problems.

Additionally, yoga can help reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, fatigue, and depression. Yoga is also considered beneficial in managing problems related to menstruation and menopause in women.
