The West Bengal government has deployed medical teams at five major Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata following a stampede that claimed several lives. Doctors and medical officers will be stationed at the venues from 5 pm to 6 am between October 19 and 21 to provide emergency assistance to visitors. The move follows the deadly crowd crush at a north Kolkata puja venue, after which authorities intensified safety measures and crowd-management arrangements.
