Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Saturday described his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a memorable and enriching experience, expressing gratitude for the Prime Minister’s time, guidance and insights.
“A morning I will cherish. Had the privilege of meeting Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji. A detailed and enriching interaction. Deeply grateful for his generous time and for the opportunity to benefit from his insights and guidance,” Chadha said in a post on X.
The meeting came a day after Modi hosted a breakfast interaction with 45 Parliamentarians, most of whom had recently changed political affiliations and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The interaction took place amid a turbulent Monsoon Session of Parliament, which has witnessed repeated disruptions over Opposition protests, affecting the functioning of both Houses and limiting opportunities for several MPs to participate in debates.
According to reports, Modi expressed concern over the disruptions during Friday’s meeting and reassured lawmakers who had recently moved away from parties including the Trinamool Congress and Shiv Sena-UBT.
The Prime Minister is reported to have told the lawmakers that the NDA stood united behind its members and that they should not feel apprehensive about their political future.
“The NDA is a family. We are with the constituent parties. I am with every MP, and not just one constituent party of the NDA. I stand with every MP of the NDA. You don’t need to worry about anyone,” Modi was quoted as saying during the interaction.
Reports said the breakfast meeting was attended by 20 rebel Trinamool Congress MPs who had merged into the Nationalist Citizens Party of India, seven former Uddhav Sena MPs, six of whom formally joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, 20 National People’s Party MPs and two MPs belonging to the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction.
Chadha’s meeting with Modi comes against the backdrop of these recent political realignments within Parliament.
