Hyderabad : Veteran Telugu actor Ranganath, remembered for his remarkable contributions to Telugu cinema, continues to be spoken about not only for his acting career but also for his reported final wish, which reflected gratitude towards a person who had cared for him during his later years.
Born Tirumala Sundara Sri Ranganath in Chennai, the actor reportedly requested that his savings be given to his longtime domestic helper, who had looked after him for several years. According to media reports, he expressed his desire that she should not face any hardship after his passing.
Ranganath passed away in December 2015 at the age of 66, leaving the Telugu film fraternity and his admirers deeply saddened. While several reports have referred to personal struggles during his final years, the reasons behind his death were never officially confirmed.
From railway employee to celebrated actor
Before entering the film industry, Ranganath worked as a ticket collector with the Indian Railways. His passion for acting led him to Telugu cinema, where he made his debut in 1969 with director Bapu’s Buddhimantudu, starring Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Vijaya Nirmala.
