Surendranagar. A case of alleged blackmailing of women and girls coming to the gym has come to light in Surendranagar, Gujarat. After receiving the complaint, the police took action against two branches of a gym named Club 71. During the investigation, policemen reached the gym posing as customers and after this a raid was conducted at night. Police have arrested the employees including the gym manager.
After the complaint, the police made a complete plan
Club 71's branches were operating at Dudhrej Road and 80 Feet Road in Surendranagar. According to the police, an investigation into alleged suspicious activities at the gym was initiated following a complaint by a young woman. In the complaint, allegations like blackmailing the women and pressurizing them to have relations were made.
The complaint also alleged that photographs and videos of women were taken through allegedly hidden cameras in the changing room. Considering the seriousness of the matter, instead of taking direct action, the police first gathered information about the activities of the gym. After this, some policemen reached there posing as customers willing to take membership.
Pen drive, blank check and account diary found in raid
During the action in the gym, the police seized pen drives, blank cheques, account diaries and other items. According to police, photos and videos of women were found in the pen drive. These are also said to contain alleged objectionable material.
However, the police are yet to confirm that these photos and videos are actually the recorded material of the women. The digital content has been sent for forensic examination to ascertain its authenticity and any possible AI or digital tampering.
Hidden camera not found, still investigation continues
An important aspect of the case is that in the initial search of the police, no hidden camera was recovered from the gym or changing room. That is, the allegation of hidden cameras made in the complaint has not been confirmed at present.
Despite this, the material found in the pen drive, the allegations made in the complaint and other recovered items are being investigated. Police are trying to find out where the photos and videos came from and for what purpose they were used.
Arrest of people including manager
Police have arrested gym manager Amin Multani and another employee. Some other reports state a total of four arrests, while initial official accounts state the arrest of a manager and an employee. Therefore, the final status of the number of arrests will be clear from the detailed information of the police.
Police are also investigating blank checks and account diaries. These have raised suspicions of activities related to alleged illegal interest or money transactions, but this aspect is also still under investigation.
Both gyms sealed, digital forensic report awaited
According to the police, both the gyms were being operated without necessary permissions. After this, both the premises were sealed with the help of Municipal Corporation and PGVCL.
Now the most important part of the investigation is the digital content found in the pen drive. The forensic report will enable us to know whether the photos and videos are genuine or have been digitally/AI altered. The police have appealed to the potential victims to come forward and complain and have assured that their identities will be kept confidential.
At present, investigation is going on in many aspects of the case including blackmailing, alleged objectionable material, gym operations and financial transactions. The full picture of the allegations will become clear only after forensic investigation and further police action.
