After Nitish, Samrat’s test, will have to prove majority in the House
The new government of Bihar is going to prove its majority in the Assembly on 24 April. For this, the second session of the 18th Bihar Assembly will be started from the same day. On the very first day of the session, the government led by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary will present a confidence motion and try to get the support of the House. Considering the current political circumstances, this session is being considered very important, because it will clarify the balance of power in the state.
Big change in Bihar politics
Recently, a big change has been seen in the politics of Bihar. After Nitish Kumar went to Rajya Sabha, Samrat Chaudhary has taken the responsibility of the post of Chief Minister. According to constitutional rules, any new Chief Minister has to prove that he has majority support in the Assembly. This is why it becomes mandatory for the government to obtain a trust vote. Unless the confidence of the House is obtained, the government is not considered completely legitimate.
Meanwhile, the matter of expansion of the cabinet of the new government is still pending. It is believed that this may take some more time. According to sources, the decision on cabinet expansion will be taken only after the results of the assembly elections being held in five states including West Bengal and one union territory. The counting of votes for these elections is scheduled for May 4, only after which the further process is likely to speed up.
Many leaders of Bihar BJP busy in West Bengal elections
It is being told that many senior leaders of Bihar BJP are currently busy in West Bengal elections, due to which the discussion on cabinet expansion has not been completed. Till now, no final decision has been taken on the names of potential ministers nor has any official list been released. For this reason, the government is currently working in a limited form.
Till now, along with Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, two senior JDU leaders Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav have taken oath as Deputy Chief Ministers. The government has also divided the departments among the three leaders. The Chief Minister has a total of 29 important departments including Home, which include important ministries like road construction, health, revenue, industry, tourism, disaster management, environment and Panchayati Raj.
