After retirement, Ajinkya Rahane will now play in this T20 league, the team announced

New Delhi, 08 August 2026: It has been announced that Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane is going to play in a foreign T20 league. Although there was widespread speculation that he would pursue a career in coaching or commentary after retirement, he has decided to continue playing professional cricket. He will participate in the first edition of the ‘European T20 Premier League’. The team he has joined is being led by Australian captain Mitchell Marsh and also includes star players like Steve Smith and Tim David.

Ajinkya Rahane will play for the ‘Amsterdam Flames’ in the European T20 Premier League 2026. He has joined the team as a ‘marquee player’. The franchise confirmed his inclusion in this role through an official announcement on Friday. The organizers expect the league to benefit from the participation of a veteran player like Rahane. Many other former cricketers, including India’s Ravichandran Ashwin, will also be seen playing in this league.

Steve Waugh, co-founder of Amsterdam Flames, welcomed Ajinkya Rahane to the team and praised him. He said, “Rahane has the skill, leadership, humility and all the qualities that a professional cricketer should have. He has earned a lot of respect not only for his game, but also for his conduct on the field.”

The overseas players in this team are Mitchell Marsh (Australia), Steve Smith (Australia), Tim David (Australia), Michael Bracewell (New Zealand), David Paine (England) and Richard Gleeson (England).
