Layoff again in Amazon: Lay off the employees of this country including India

Business News : American e-commerce giant Amazon has laid off around 1,000 employees. These layoffs have affected employees in India, the United States and the United Kingdom. According to a Reuters report, the company has taken this decision as part of a transformation of its retail business. Notably, these layoffs have taken place during the ongoing sales period.

The layoffs hit Amazon’s stores division

According to the report, the biggest impact of the layoffs has been on Amazon’s stores division, which handles the company’s core online shopping business. The company has confirmed the elimination of around 1,000 positions. An Amazon spokeswoman said certain parts of the stores business have made changes to better align with its priorities.

According to the report, these changes have also affected teams such as customer service and sales partner services. Some employees in India, United States and United Kingdom have been notified of layoffs.

The number of employees was increased during the corona epidemic

These Amazon layoffs are part of ongoing job cuts at the company. Earlier, the company had undergone major layoffs of over 30,000 employees. Amazon founder and executive chairman Jeff Bezos has said that due to the increase in online shopping during the Corona epidemic, the company hired a large number of people. Later, there was a need to reduce the number of employees.

The company is increasing investment in AI

Interestingly, while Amazon is reducing its workforce, it is also gearing up to invest heavily in AI. The company plans to spend around $220 billion on data centers, chips and AI-related infrastructure. A large portion of this investment is expected to go towards Amazon Web Services (AWS) and AI-related work.
