Anarchism in the movement: Police lathi charge at Jantar Mantar, protesters accused of stone pelting

New Delhi : The situation has once again become serious amid the protests by CJP at Jantar Mantar. The atmosphere there is hot. There is news of clash between the protesters and Delhi Police. The police have released tear gas shells and not only this, they have also resorted to lathi charge.

During this period, stone pelting also took place here. In which two ACPs of Delhi Police, 2 Inspectors, several security personnel and NSUI workers were injured. While talking to a private news channel, a police officer said that he was sprayed amid the chaos. Which fell on his throat, causing burning sensation for a long time.

According to the media report, some policemen were surrounded by the protesters in front of the Park Hotel located near the protest site, to save whom ACP Vivek Bhagat had come, meanwhile someone hit him on the head with a stick. Due to which he suffered serious injuries and had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Protestors from across the country are reaching Jantar Mantar

As the protesters from across the country reached the national capital after traveling overnight by buses and trains, the sloganeering at Jantar Mantar intensified and the crowd also increased. Even after two days of ‘Chalo Sansad’ march, Jantar Mantar protest is continuing and new people are joining it. Many people have traveled overnight to reach the protest site with bags and banners on their backs.

As more people join the gathering, volunteers are directing them to seating areas and distributing drinking water and food packets. Children wearing school uniform, college students, office goers and elderly protesters were seen standing shoulder to shoulder. Some people were sitting on the road listening to the speeches being given from the stage, while others gathered near the police barricade, raising slogans and holding placards.

As the crowd grew, many protesters climbed nearby trees to get a better view of the stage and the people gathered below and began waving flags from the branches, while slogans echoed across the area. The atmosphere was full of enthusiasm throughout the day. Every few minutes, slogans demanding accountability and resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were raised from different parts of the crowd. Volunteers carrying first aid kits and water bottles moved among the crowd, while new groups of protesters arrived at the protest site with flags slung over their shoulders and banners at their sides. Gurpreet Singh, a volunteer who is helping in managing the arrangements, said, “People have been coming since the morning and are still coming.”

He said, “Many people told us that after watching Monday’s march, they had traveled overnight by bus from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Every hour new groups are coming with their bags and joining the protests.

Among them was 20-year-old Aditi Sharma who came from Jaipur with her four friends. “We took a bus last night and reached Delhi this morning,” he said. Baldev, 70, from Punjab, reached here with the help of a stick. “My family had asked me not to travel because of my age, but I still came,” he said. When I reached here, I saw that children, students, women and elderly people were all sitting together.
