Demand for resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan: CJP announces indefinite strike at Jantar Mantar

Delhi: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Wednesday said that it has sought permission from Delhi Police to protest at Jantar Mantar on June 20 and is confident that this demand will be approved.

The party said in a statement that it has completed all the necessary police formalities and has submitted details of the proposed protest, including the number of volunteers and other logistical arrangements.

Earlier, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke had announced that they would stage an indefinite strike at Jantar Mantar from June 20 until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said in the statement, “We have formally informed Delhi Police about the peaceful demonstration and dharna at Jantar Mantar on June 20, 2026. Delhi Police has said that they will respond to us tomorrow morning. We are confident that the police will give permission.”

In a video statement after meeting police officials, Saurav Das said he spent the entire day at the Parliament Street police station completing the necessary procedures related to the proposed protest.

He said, “I have completed the entire plan, number of volunteers required and all other formalities as per the requirement of the police. We are hopeful that the Delhi Police will cooperate with us. CJP assured the police of full cooperation and said that the protest will be peaceful.”

He said, “Like every other protest we have across the country, this protest will also be peaceful. People from across the country will join us at Jantar Mantar for one demand – Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.”

Das further said, “We have offered our full cooperation, so there is no reason why Delhi Police should deny us the right to assemble peacefully at Jantar Mantar.”

The organization also issued a ‘Chalo Delhi’ call to supporters ahead of the proposed protest. Cockroach Janata Party, a youth-led organization that emerged from an online campaign. It is raising issues related to unemployment, examination irregularities and delays in recruitment.
