'Raja Bhoj National Sailing Championship' will start on Upper Lake of Bhopal

Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, is once again going to become the center of major water sports events in the country.

‘Raja Bhoj Multiclass National Sailing Championship (Ranking) 2026’ is being organized by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department from today Tuesday at the Water Sports Center of Boat Club located in Upper Lake.

Public Relations Officer Durgesh Raikwar said that in this six-day national level competition, which will run till August 16, talented sailors from across the country will showcase their speed, balance and technical skills.

He said that about 100 national and international level players from 12 states of the country and various prestigious clubs are participating in this prestigious competition of national ranking.

In the competition, along with experienced players, emerging talents will also get an opportunity to showcase their ability at the national level. Exciting matches will be seen between the players in the favorable conditions of Upper Lake.

The event will be organized under the technical guidance of YI
He informed that technical guidance is being received from Yachting Association of India (YI) to organize the competition as per national and international standards. 12 jury members and officials of YI have reached Bhopal for the event.

WII will play an important role in the conduct of the competition, technical arrangements and decision-making process. Besides, senior officials of Sports Authority of India (SAI) will also be associated with the event.

Madhya Pradesh Yachting Association will coordinate
Madhya Pradesh Yachting Association will have special coordination in the conduct of this national competition organized by the Sports and Youth Welfare Department.

Through the event, along with giving more encouragement to sailing and other water sports in the state, local talents will get an opportunity to compete with national level players.

Bhopal is gaining recognition as a hub of water sports
By continuously organizing national and international level competitions on the Upper Lake, Bhopal has created its own unique identity as a major water sports center of the country.

At Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Academy, players are being prepared for national and international competitions through modern facilities and expert training.

Champions are being prepared under the supervision of foreign experts
With the aim of preparing the players of Madhya Pradesh Water Sports Academy for international level competitions, the Sports and Youth Welfare Department is also taking the services of international level foreign coaches.

Under the guidance of expert coaches, players are continuously working on technique, fitness, strategy and ability to deal with the pressure of competition.

State’s talents will get exposure through national competition
Events like ‘Raja Bhoj Multiclass National Sailing Championship’ will provide the young athletes of Madhya Pradesh an opportunity to compete with the top sailors of the country and hone their talent.

The objective of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department is to promote water sports on a large scale in the state and to provide better platform and training to the players for excellent performance at national and international level.

This championship, starting from August 11 at Upper Lake in Bhopal, will not only test the skills and speed of top sailors from across the country, but will also become an important opportunity to showcase the water sports capabilities of Bhopal and the sports talents of Madhya Pradesh on the national platform.
