Material
Soaked chana dal: 1 cup (soaked for 4-5 hours)
Fresh Spinach: 1 cup (finely chopped)
Green chilli: 2 (finely chopped)
Ginger: 1 inch piece
Cumin: 1 tsp
Asafoetida: a pinch
Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp
Salt: as per taste
Oil or Ghee: For frying cheela

Step 1: First of all, put soaked chana dal in the mixer. Add ginger, green chilli, cumin and a little water to it and grind it into a thick and smooth batter.
Step 2: Take out this batter in a vessel. Now add chopped spinach, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt and mix well. If the batter seems too thick, you can add 1-2 teaspoons more water.
Step 3: Heat a non-stick pan on medium flame and apply a little oil on it. Pour a tablespoon of batter on the pan and spread it round.
Step 4: Add some oil or ghee on the edges of the cheela. When the lower surface becomes light golden, turn it over and cook until the other side also becomes crispy.
