Durga Puja security in Bangladesh handed over to Ansar-VDP

Dhaka (Bangladesh). The security of Shardiya Navratri and the Durga pandals decorated on this occasion in the country has been entrusted to Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party (VDP).

Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party is an auxiliary paramilitary force under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The force has initiated advance security measures across the country to celebrate Shardiya Durga Puja in a safe and peaceful manner.

A press release issued late on Wednesday said members of the force have begun visiting idol sites, puja pandals and temples across the country, the Dhaka Tribune reported.

Talks are being held with leaders of the organizing committees, temple officials and idol makers. These measures are being taken at the district and upazila levels on the instructions of Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmood, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party.

It is reported that emphasis is also being laid on coordination with local administration and law enforcement agencies to avoid any untoward situation.

The Director General has also asked for cooperation in maintaining overall security and discipline in Durga Puja pandals and taking prompt and coordinated action in case of emergency. A plan is also being prepared to deploy force members in Durga pandals.
