Assam: The famous Ambubachi fair of Maa Kamakhya temple will start from June 22.

Guwahati, June 16. The annual Ambubachi fair organized at the famous Maa Kamakhya temple of Assam will begin from June 22. Preparations for this fair, which is included in the biggest and most important religious events of North-East India, are going on in full swing.

According to the temple administration, this festival will start with ‘Pravriti’ ritual at 9.08 minutes 42 seconds on the night of 22nd June. This is considered to be the sacred time when the annual menstruation period (menstruation period) of Goddess Kamakhya begins.

After the start of the rituals, the doors of the temple will remain closed for three consecutive days.

After this, after the daily puja is completed on the morning of 26th June, the doors of the temple will be opened again, after which the devotees will be able to have darshan and receive blessings.

Ambubachi fair is considered to be one of the most important festivals associated with Shakti Puja in India. This festival symbolizes the fertility of Mother Earth and it is believed that during this time Goddess Kamakhya, who is considered the embodiment of feminine power and creative power, goes through her annual menstruation period.

Kamakhya Temple, located on the Neelachal Hills of Guwahati, is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of Hinduism and has special religious significance, especially among the followers of the Tantric tradition. After the opening of the temple, ‘Angodak’ and ‘Angavastra’ are given to the devotees, which is considered extremely auspicious. Every year this fair attracts lakhs of devotees, ascetics and spiritual seekers, making Guwahati a major center of religious activities.

The temple administration and the state government have started finalizing the arrangements for this year’s event, so that the fair can be conducted in a peaceful and well-organized manner. The temple administration said that extensive preparations are being made in view of the lakhs of devotees, saints and tourists coming from India and abroad.
