Axar Patel, Miller Stars as Delhi Capitals Seal 3-Wicket Win vs Punjab Kings
A resilient knock from Axar Patel and David Miller has set up Delhi Capitals’ 3-wicket victory against Punjab Kings at Dharamsala.
Both smashed fifties reviving the innings after an early collapse, keeping their playoff chances alive. By this win, they moved to the 7th position of the IPL 2026 points table.
After being invited to bat first, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opened the innings while Mitchell Starc opened the bowling attack.
With an expensive over from Starc, PBKS made a solid start as Arya unleashed his fury, hitting fours and sixes.
On the other hand, Prabhsimran Singh played a second fiddle. Priyansh Arya smashed 24-ball fifty as Punjab Kings scored 72 runs in the powerplay.
Delhi Capitals used four bowlers but couldn’t stop the run flow. Only Auqib Nabi leaked runs under 10 run rate.
Mukesh Kumar bagged the first wicket dismissing Prabhsimran Singh for 18 runs. He got dismissed on a catch from Aquib Nabi at deep backward square leg.
Shreyas Iyer who came to bat at no.3 joined Priyansh Arya to take on DC bowlers. However, Madhav Tiwari bagged the wicket of Priyansh Arya for 56 runs.
He got dismissed on a good length delivery where the batter gave catch in deep point where Sahil Parakh picked the catch.
Cooper Connolly came to bat at no.4 and joined Shreyas Iyer, stitching a steady pertnership for the 3rd wicket.
Madhav Tiwari picked the wicket of Cooper Connolly for 38 runs. He got dismissed on catch from David Miller at Mid-wicket. In the mean time, Shreyas Iyer smashed his fifty
Mitchell Starc picked the wickets of Marcus Stoinis and Shashan Sing in the same over for 1 and 0 respectively.
Suryanash Shedge who came to bat at no.7, made a small cameo scoring 21 runs off 8 deliveries.
With Shreyas Iyer and Suryansh Shedge at crease, Punjab Kings scored 210 runs in their 20 over innings.

Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten with 59* runs as he was the highest run scorer for Punjab Kings in the game. Madhav Tiwari and Mitchell Starc picked two wickets each, while Mukesh Kumar completed his spell with a wicket tally.
Chasing 211 runs, KL Rahul and Abhishek Porel opened the innings while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack.
Yash Thakur bowled out Abhishek Porel for 5 runs while Arshdeep Singh bagged the wicket of KL Rahul for 9 runs. He got dismissed on length delivery on middle leg which got edged to Marcon Jansen in the slips.
With Sahil Parakh’s dismissal for 13 runs, Arshdeep bagged his second wicket as Delhi Capitals lost three wickets for 33 runs.
With Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel at crease, Delhi Capitals scored 47 runs in the powerplay. Stubbs was sent back to dug out for 12 runs as Axar Patel and David Miller are anchoring the innings on a mammoth run chase.
They forged 64-run partnership reviving Delhi Capitals innings. Axar Patel smashed his fifty and scored 56 runs off 29 deliveries before being dismissed by Marcus Stoinis.
Soon David Miller also smashed his fifty and put Delhi Capitals on a comfortable spot before his dismissal for 51 runs. Ben Dwarshuis bagged the wicket of Miller on a back of lengthy delivery where Prabhsimran Singh picked the catch behind the wickets.
Ashutosh Sharma made a small cameo scoring 24 runs off 9 deliveries before being dismissed by Yash Thakur.
With Madhav Tiwari and Aquib Nabi at Crease, Delhi Capitals completed the chase with one over to spare. Madhav Tiwari and Auqib Nabi both remained unbeaten with 18 and 10 respectively.
Delhi Capitals will play their next game against Rajasthan Royals on May 17 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
