Bayern Munich has extended the contracts of Chief Executive Officer Jan-Christian Driessen and Sporting board member Max Eberl until June 2029.
According to Xinhua report, the decision was approved by Bayern’s supervisory board in a meeting on Tuesday. Following the approval, Driessen and Eberle’s terms, which were to expire in 2027, were extended by two years.
Driessen joined Bayern in 2013 as chief financial officer and became deputy chief executive a year later. He is working as CEO from May 2023.
After the contract extension, Driessen said, “I thank the Supervisory Board for their trust. We want to continue to do everything we can to ensure that FC Bayern remains the top club that we are all proud of. That’s what motivates us. We still have a lot of plans.”
Eberl, 52, returned to Bayern as a board member of Sporting in March 2024 after working in management at Borussia Monchengladbach and RB Leipzig. He joined Bayern at the age of six, progressing through the youth system and later making his professional debut for the club.
“FC Bayern has been close to my heart ever since I was in the youth teams. The supervisory board’s trust is a valuable gesture and I am very pleased with it,” Eberl said.
Supervisory Board Chairman Herbert Hainer said that stability is important, stability gives strength. We need both of us to continue to develop the club at the highest level. Bayern wants to maintain its place among the top clubs in Europe.
Hainer said the management board of Dressen, Eberl and marketing and sales executive Reuven Kasper was well placed to take the club forward on and off the pitch. Bayern’s management board has three members from July 2024. The purpose of this structure is to help in taking quick decisions while maintaining coordination.
