Bayern Munich hit four to advance past Osnabrück in the DFB Cup

Bayern Munich put in an assured performance to beat second division side Osnabrück in the first round of the DFB Cup, responding to Robin Meißner’s early wonder-strike to go on and win 4-1 away from home.

Osnabruck 1-4 Bayern Munich
Goals: 1-0 Meissner 5′, 1-1 Kane 18, 1-2 Bishop 24′, 1-3 Olise 73′, 1-4 Kane 86′

Osnabrück named the same starting eleven that won 1-0 at Bochum last weekend, while Vincent Kompany made five changes to the Bayern side that had beaten VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga opener, with Jonas Urbig, Josip Stanišić, Jonathan Tah, Ismael Saibari and Tom Bischof all coming into the line-up.

Meißner stuns Bayern with a wondergoal

The hosts made the perfect start when Meißner took down a long ball and, from around 30 metres, sent an extraordinary volley over Urbig and into the top corner to give Osnabrück a 1-0 lead after just five minutes, sending the Bremer Brücke into raptures.

Kane and Bischof turn the tie around

Bayern responded and, after a spell of pressure, Harry Kane levelled in the 18th minute after Robin Fabinski could only head a cross into his path. Six minutes later Bayern were ahead: Michael Olise slid Luis Díaz through, Jonas Krumrey saved the Colombian’s effort, and Bischof pounced on the rebound to fire in his side’s second. Osnabrück continued to compete, but half-time arrived with the visitors 2-1 up.

Olise’s chip settles the contest

Bayern controlled the second half without conceding a single shot from Osnabrück. In the 73rd minute Michael Olise, fed by substitute Lennart Karl, skipped past Fabinski inside the box and lifted a delicate finish over Krumrey to make it 3-1.

Kane completes his brace from the spot

With four minutes remaining, Aleksandar Pavlović was fouled by Jannik Müller inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Kane stepped up and sent his effort into the bottom corner, sending Krumrey the wrong way and completing his brace to make it 4-1, his 148th goal in Bayern colours in his 150th appearance.
