Patna: M Roshan. In Bihar's Banka district, the Surveillance Investigation Bureau took major action on Tuesday and arrested Block Development Officer (BDO) of Fullidumar Amit Pratap Singh red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 75 thousand. The surveillance team that arrived from Patna carried out the trap operation at the private residence of BDO located in Nehru Colony of Banka city. BDO's maternal uncle Bachchan Prasad Singh was also detained during the action. Both were taken to Banka Parishad for questioning.
Bribe was demanded in exchange for approval of development plans
According to the monitoring department, Fullidumar block chief Gautam Prakash had complained against BDO Amit Pratap Singh for demanding bribe. It was alleged in the complaint that Rs 75,000 was being demanded in lieu of administrative approval and withdrawal of funds for various development schemes related to the Panchayati Raj Department. After receiving the complaint, the Surveillance Investigation Bureau first got the allegations verified. After the demand for bribe was confirmed during verification, the surveillance team planned a trap action to arrest the BDO red handed.
The complainant was sent with the money
On Tuesday, the monitoring team led by a DSP level officer reached Banka from Patna. The team started surveillance around the private residence of BDO in Nehru Colony. After this, the complainant was sent to the BDO's residence with the fixed amount. It is being said that after the complainant gave Rs 75 thousand, the surveillance team took immediate action and arrested BDO Amit Pratap Singh. During the action, his maternal uncle Bachchan Prasad Singh was also detained. After the arrest, both of them were taken to Banka Parishad, where they are being interrogated by the surveillance team. During the action, the surveillance department team also completed the necessary legal process.
Action on BDO the next day after the arrest of former chief
After the arrest of the BDO, this matter has also come into discussion because on Monday itself there was a dispute between BDO Amit Pratap Singh and former chief Sanjeev Kumar Mandal in the Fullidumar block office.
It was told that there was a dispute between the two regarding the issue of birth certificate. BDO had accused the former chief of assault and pushing. After the complaint in the matter, the police arrested the former chief and sent him to jail. Almost 24 hours after the arrest of the former chief, the market of discussions is hot in the area as the news of Fullidumar BDO being arrested for taking bribe came to light. However, whether the two incidents are related or not is a matter of investigation.
BDOs will be presented in special court
The team of Surveillance Investigation Bureau is taking further legal action in the case. The process of presenting the arrested BDO Amit Pratap Singh in the special surveillance court is being done. After the action of the surveillance department, many questions have started being raised regarding the process of approval of government development schemes and withdrawal of funds. Now during the investigation it will become clear whether any other person had a role in the bribe demand and transaction or not.
The picture of the entire episode will be clear only after the investigation of the surveillance department and further legal action in the matter.
