Direction of trunk- Devotees should note that the idol in which the trunk is bent towards the left side is considered more auspicious for worship. It is a symbol of gentle and peaceful nature. The trunk bent towards the right demands more stringent sadhana rules.
Symbol in hands- In the idol of Lord Ganesha, the hand in Abhaya or Varad Mudra is considered to be the traditional form. A similar statue can be installed in the house.
Vehicle- It is considered very auspicious to have a mouse with Lord Ganesha. It is a symbol of humility and subtle intelligence.
