However, recently after the release of Yash's film 'Toxic', 'The Odyssey' was removed from many IMAX screens. Now within just 48 hours, the news of the film's return to IMAX screens once again has come to light.
Is the declining collection of 'Toxic' the reason?
According to reports, the lower than expected performance of 'Toxic' is being considered as a major reason for 'The Odyssey' getting screened again. After the release of 'Toxic', the screening of 'The Odyssey' was reduced on IMAX screens instead.
But now amidst the declining earnings of 'Toxic', Nolan's film has again been launched on the big screen for the audience. Apart from this, the demand for IMAX screening of 'The Odyssey' in cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad is also being said to be an important reason for its return.
The film reached close to Rs 200 crore in India
'The Odyssey' has so far made a net collection of around Rs 178.05 crore in India, while its gross collection is said to be around Rs 206 crore. The film's earnings are expected to increase further after its re-release on IMAX screens.
There is a different craze to watch Nolan's films on the big screen and especially in IMAX format. In such a situation, the return of the film to IMAX can also prove beneficial for the makers.
How much did 'Toxic' earn?
Yash starrer 'Toxic' had a great opening of Rs 101.10 crore on the first day. The film earned Rs 37.65 crore on the second day and Rs 26.60 crore on the third day.
In this way, the net collection of the film in India in three days became Rs 165.35 crore. Its gross collection is said to be around Rs 197.70 crore and overseas collection is said to be Rs 23.75 crore. With this the worldwide collection of the film reached Rs 221.45 crore.
Now after the return of 'The Odyssey' on IMAX screens, the box office competition between the two films has become more interesting. It remains to be seen which film will be successful in attracting the audience to the theaters in the coming days.
