Bengal Elections 2026: Road shows were not rallies, pilgrimages were for me, PM Modi’s emotional letter to Bengal before the final phase
digital desk- The noise of campaigning for the second and final phase of West Bengal Assembly elections is going to stop today. On the last day of campaigning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a very emotional and personal letter to the people of Bengal. In this letter, the PM has described the experience of election rallies as a ‘pilgrimage’ and has called for ‘change’ for the development and security of Bengal. The Prime Minister started his letter by expressing his gratitude to the people of Bengal. He wrote that the immense love and blessings he has received during the entire election campaign have filled him with new energy. The PM said, “Despite such scorching heat and continuous rallies, I did not feel the slightest tiredness in this election of Bengal. The youth power, women power, farmers and workers here all seem determined for ‘Developed Bengal’.”
Rallies compared to ‘Ramlala’ ritual
PM Modi linked this election campaign to his spiritual journey. Making a big revelation in the letter, he wrote, “The 11-day rituals that I performed before the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya in January 2024, I have had the same feeling in this election campaign. The road shows and rallies of Bengal have been as sacred and devotional for me as the darshan of a goddess temple.” The Prime Minister further shared that at night after the rallies, he calmly looks at the pictures and letters given by the people and also writes down his replies. He described this love of the public as the ‘real capital’ of his life.
‘Enough of fear, now we need trust’
Through the letter, the Prime Minister took a dig at the current situation of the state and appealed for change. He wrote that the youth of Bengal now want ‘open ground’ to move ahead and the daughters here are demanding ‘open sky’ and ‘security’. The PM said, “Every citizen of Bengal is now moving forward with the same determination, now change has to happen. Enough of fear, now we need trust, now we need BJP.”
BJP’s ‘Developed Bengal’ roadmap
In his letter, the PM emphasized that BJP has a clear roadmap for the future of Bengal. He promised that if the BJP government comes to power, Bengal will be taken out of the cycle of corruption and violence and it will be made the engine of development of the country. Let us tell you that the second and final phase of voting in Bengal is to be held on April 29. Before this, all the senior leaders of BJP including PM Modi have given their full strength. Now it remains to be seen how deeply this emotional dialogue of PM Modi reaches the hearts of the voters of Bengal. The election results will be declared on May 4.
