BGMI Lite Pre-Registration: According to its official websiteBattlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) announced that a Lite version of the mobile game app is coming. Pre-registrations for those who wish to download and make use of this version of the app are now open.
For now, pre-registrations are only available to Android users via the Google Play Store. There is currently no information on the availability of the coming Lite app for iOS users via the App Store.
But what exactly is this coming BGM Lite app, and who is it targeted at? What changes does this app, which is now accepting pre-registration, bring in comparison with the regular mobile app?
What Is BGMI Lite?
The word “Lite” isn’t new in the technology world, as it often refers to a slightly watered-down version of an available product or software. So, the soon-to-be-released BGMI Lite version is simply a watered-down version of the BGMI game, which already has 7.5 million downloads in India.
For international readers wondering what the BGMI game is, it is simply PUBG Mobile. In July 2026, Krafton, the developer of PUBG Mobile, launched Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) on the Google Play Store in India.
India had its own version of PUBG because the government banned the game. This game was banned for security concerns over its ties with Chinese firm Tencent, prompting Krafton to disassociate itself from the said firm for the launch of BGMI.
Now, Krafton is preparing to launch a watered-down version of the game for players with devices with weaker specifications. This will give more players access to the game without the need to purchase powerful devices, which cost more.
What Will Change With The Coming BGMI Lite Game?
Via its official website, BGMI said the coming Lite version “offers the familiar BGMI experience with a lighter footprint and more flexibility over what you download and keep on your device.” So while the operating requirements of the BGMI Lite app will be significantly reduced, it won’t stray from what players are already used to.
To keep operating requirements low, this game might cut down on things like graphics. From the quote above, it might be safe to expect this coming Lite app to store some data needed for gameplay in the cloud and not on the user’s device.

When Will The BGMI Lite App Be Available?

If you have auto-install enabled, the app will automatically install once available. Being a Lite app, the upcoming BGMI Lite might take up less device space in comparison to the regular BGMI app.
