India's star javelin thrower and two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra has pulled out of all the remaining events of the 2026 season. Neeraj himself has confirmed this. Neeraj will not be able to play any further tournament this season due to injury. Also, he will not participate in any tournament including the 2026 Asian Games in Japan and the final of the Diamond League. He made the decision due to an injury he sustained after his javelin best of 88.05m during the recent Diamond League event in Lausanne. Neeraj himself has also posted the information on social media.

Neeraj Chopra posted on his official social media account about his injury and decision not to play this season. Neeraj wrote, 'After a lot of hard work, I finally got the momentum with my 'best throw of the season' in Lausanne. Unfortunately, shortly after that, I tore a ligament in my ankle during practice. After discussions with my doctor and the team, we have decided that I will miss the remainder of the season.'
He went on to write, 'It's disappointing, because I thought I had found my rhythm, but as they say, obstacles are part of the journey. Now my focus is just on recovering properly and coming back stronger than ever. Thank you all for your love and support.'

A big blow to India's hopes
Due to this injury, Neeraj Chopra will not be able to participate in the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, which is a big blow for India. The 2026 season was a mixed bag for 28-year-old Neeraj Chopra. After a long injury lay-off, Neeraj made his comeback at the Doha Diamond League in June and finished fourth with a throw of 85.69m. He then won the silver medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a throw of 85.83m, and Lusa then recorded his season's best in the Diamond League. Neeraj finished second in the Lusa Diamond League with a personal best of 88.05m.
