Big campaign of UP government, implemented in all 75 districts of the state

Lucknow: In order to make environmental protection a mass movement in Uttar Pradesh, the state government is going to run a large-scale tree plantation campaign on July 12. Under this mega campaign, a target has been set to plant 35 crore saplings in all 75 districts of the state in a single day. The aim of the government is not only to plant trees but also to ensure their care and sustainable expansion of green cover.

Linking this campaign with public participation, the state government has called upon all departments, public representatives, educational institutions, social organizations and common citizens to participate in it. Department-wise responsibilities have also been fixed for this.

Targets given to various departments

The biggest responsibility in the plantation campaign has been entrusted to the Forest Department, which has got the target of planting 15.50 crore saplings. Whereas Rural Development Department will plant 10 crore saplings, Agriculture Department 3.25 crore, Horticulture Department 1.50 crore and Panchayati Raj Department 1.22 crore saplings. Apart from this, other departments will also participate in the campaign as per their respective targets.

Special green campaign will run throughout the year

Even after the mega campaign of July 12, the state government will organize plantation programs on various occasions throughout the year. These include Vande Mataram Vatika on 15th August, brother-sister plantation on Rakshabandhan and a campaign in the name of a tree on 5th September. Apart from this, efforts will also be made to increase greenery through schemes like Mission Chhaya, Aviral Dhara plantation, Drumstick Bhandara and Mango Bhandara.

There will be greenery along Ganga Expressway also

This time the government has also laid special emphasis on increasing greenery on the roadside. 5.50 lakh saplings will be planted along the Ganga Expressway, so that in future this route can develop as a green corridor. Along with this, work will also be done on new concepts like Samras Van, Samridhi Van, Krishi Van, Urja Van and Kapi Van.

Plantation along the banks of 13 major rivers

The Forest Department has completed preparations for large-scale plantation along the banks of 13 major rivers of the state. Thousands of places have been selected within a radius of five kilometers from the banks of Ganga, Yamuna, Saryu, Gomti and other rivers. More than 3.83 crore saplings will be planted in this area, which will increase greenery in the river bank areas and strengthen environmental protection.

Special attention will also be paid to the protection of plants

The government has clarified that the aim of the campaign is not only to plant a record number of saplings but also to ensure their regular irrigation, protection and conservation. The concerned departments have been entrusted with the responsibility of taking care of the saplings planted on expressways, national highways, cow shelters and public places.
