Big challenge for telecom companies before 6G

Preparations for 6G technology are increasing, but the telecom companies are facing a big challenge of network upgrade. Experts believe that the transition from 5G to 6G will require huge investment and new hardware.

Tech: Amidst 5G expansion in India, the discussion regarding 6G technology has intensified. However, according to new reports, it will not be easy for telecom companies to shift to 6G network. This may require large-scale network upgrades, new technology and additional investment from operators.

The path from 5G to 6G will not be easy

It has been almost four years since the launch of 5G services in the country and telecom companies are still busy in network expansion and upgradation in many areas. Meanwhile, preparations have also started at the global level regarding 6G technology. However, experts believe that like 4G to 5G, it will not be possible to move to 6G only through software updates.

This new generation technology will be much more complex and advanced. For this, major changes may have to be made in the existing network infrastructure. In such a situation, telecom operators may have to face big challenges at both technical and economic levels.

AI and smart devices are increasing pressure

The rapidly increasing use of Artificial Intelligence based services and new devices like smart glasses has increased the demand for networks more than ever. 6G is being considered as the high-speed and low-latency technology of the future, which will support AI, automation and immersive digital experiences.

Experts say that merely expanding the existing network will not be enough to meet these new needs. Telecom companies will have to invest in new radio systems, upgraded antennas and higher capacity network equipment.

Big investment will have to be made on hardware

Major companies manufacturing network equipment believe that with the advent of 6G, a new round of investment in the telecom industry can begin. Operators will need to purchase large-scale hardware and modernize network infrastructure.

Higher frequency spectrum is likely to be used for 6G technology. The cost of such spectrum is high and it requires additional network resources. At present, due to 4G and 5G services, there is already pressure on the spectrum resources of many operators.

Signal coverage will also become a challenge

A major technical challenge related to 6G technology is considered to be its limited signal reach. Signals operating at higher frequencies cannot travel long distances effectively and have difficulty crossing obstacles such as walls.

To solve this problem, telecom companies may have to install more antennas, beamforming technology and advanced radio systems. This may further increase network costs, but will be necessary to ensure better coverage.

5G standalone network will also be needed

According to experts, before moving towards 6G, telecom companies will have to adopt 5G standalone (SA) network. Currently many operators are providing services on the non-standalone (NSA) model, which is largely dependent on 4G infrastructure.

Some companies in India are already working towards standalone networks, while other operators are also preparing for this change. Industry experts believe that without a strong 5G standalone network, it will not be possible to operate 6G services on a large scale.

Future technology, but challenges also big

6G is considered to be the revolutionary mobile technology of the future, which can provide much faster speeds, low latency and advanced connectivity than the current 5G networks. However, it will not be easy for the telecom companies to prepare the necessary technical infrastructure for this.

The coming years will reveal how operators respond to these challenges and how rapidly investments and network expansion are made to bring 6G technology to the masses.
