Punjab News: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, who is also the Chairman of the Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted to resolve staff issues, today directed the Health and Family Welfare Department to ensure payment of special incentive allowance of Rs 525 per vaccination session to contract based multipurpose health workers. This incentive allowance will be given for a maximum of four vaccination sessions in a month.
Quick resolution of welfare related issues
Chairing frequent meetings of the Cabinet Sub-Committee to resolve employee issues, the Finance Minister directed the concerned departments to immediately resolve the legitimate demands of various employee unions, regularization of services and welfare related issues.
Direct increase up to Rs 2,100
During a meeting with representatives of the Contract Multipurpose Health Workers Union, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that this decision will directly increase the monthly income of these employees by Rs 2,100. He also directed the department to send the union’s case regarding regularization of services to the concerned committee for review.
The union representatives expressed gratitude to the Finance Minister for introducing uniform allowance and tour allowance along with incentive allowance.
During this, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema also held discussions with Forest Employees Union and Punjab Pradesh Palledar Union. He directed the Forest Department to resolve the legitimate demands of the forest employees as soon as possible in active coordination with the Personnel Department. Apart from this, he directed the Food and Civil Supplies Department to properly resolve all the legitimate issues raised by the Palledar Union.
Demand for social security provisions also
In another meeting, the Finance Minister met with various employee organizations of the Electricity Department. These include Powercom and Transco Contract Employees Union, Outsourced Employees Federation, Powercom Meter Reader Union Azad, G.H.T.P. Contractor Workers Union (AITUC) and Sanjha Morcha Thermal Contract Workers Union, Ropar. While submitting the demand letter, the delegation demanded the state government to bring all the remaining employee categories under the ambit of the regularization policy. They also demanded timely increase in wages and provisions for appropriate compensation and social security in case of workplace accidents or loss of life or property. Finance Minister Cheema listened carefully to their concerns and assured the union representatives that the State Government was sympathetically reviewing their demands and appropriate action would be taken soon.

Sukhwinder Singh on behalf of Contractor Workers Union (AITUC), Balwinder Singh Saini on behalf of Sanjha Morcha Thermal Contract Workers Union, Amrik Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Amandeep Singh and Sulkhan Singh on behalf of Forest Employees Union and Amarjeet Singh, Dhanna Singh, Gurdhyan Singh, Randhir Singh and Karamjit Singh on behalf of Punjab Pradesh Palledar Union presented their issues and demands.
