Patna: The state government has taken a big step towards banning the buying and selling of non-Majrua common land in Bihar. The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has started the process of identifying such lands and including them in the registration system. After the implementation of the new system, it will not be possible to register this category of land, because such cases will be stopped at the software level itself.
Software will stop the registry
The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has instructed the Registration Department that the complete records of non-Majrua common lands identified on the basis of Khatian and land survey should be entered in the digital system. For this, a list of such lands in each district will be prepared and made available to the registration department.
What is non-majorua common land?
Non-majorua common land is that government land, which is used in the interest of the general public. This includes roads, schools, ponds, cremation grounds, cemeteries, sports grounds and other public use lands. With time, complaints of occupation and illegal buying and selling of these lands have been coming to light at many places, due to which the government is now taking steps towards securing them completely.
The landless get benefits
The government from time to time utilizes non-Majrua common land for schemes such as providing housing to landless families. In such cases, the land is given to the beneficiaries with prescribed conditions and its sale is not allowed. The implementation of the new system is expected to help in curbing misuse and illegal transfer of such lands.
The government has already announced
The state government had earlier also indicated to stop the sale of non-Majrua common land. In this sequence, technical arrangements are now being prepared at the departmental level, so that the possibility of illegal registration can be completely eliminated. Also, if cases of sale of such land contrary to the rules come to light, then related action can also be taken.
