Big shock before Duleep Trophy final! KL Rahul will not play the match, captain Tilak Verma made it clear

Lucknow: Before the final of Duleep Trophy, South Zone captain Tilak Verma has given a big update about the team. He has made it clear that KL Rahul will not play in the final match. The title match between South Zone and East Zone is to be played from 6th September at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai.

In the press conference held before the final, Tilak Verma confirmed that KL Rahul will not play and said that Rahul is not in the team. At the same time, he has confirmed that Devdutt Padikkal and Mohammed Siraj will play in the final.

The picture changed regarding Rahul

Earlier there were reports that KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal and Mohammed Siraj will play together for South Zone in the Duleep Trophy final. There was talk of these three players playing in the Test series against Sri Lanka representing the South Zone.

However, now the situation has become clear after the statement of Captain Tilak Verma. KL Rahul is not a part of the South Zone team, while the playing of Padikkal and Siraj has been confirmed.

Preparation to deal with three left-handed batsmen

Tilak Verma has also given hints regarding the team combination of South Zone in the final match. He told that the team can take the field with an off-spinner. The reason for this is the three left-handed batsmen present in the East Zone team.

Tilak said that the final XI and team combination will be decided after seeing the pitch before the match. Tiruppurana Vijay's name can be considered as a possible off-spinner.

Duleep Trophy final will be held in Chepauk

The title match of Duleep Trophy will be played between South Zone and East Zone at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai from 6th September. The pitch and left-handed batsmen of East Zone can play an important role in the strategy of South Zone before the match.
