BJP’s counterattack on Sonia Gandhi’s Gaza statement, vote bank politics

Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi has raised questions on the foreign policy of the Central Government regarding the situation in Gaza. In an article, he alleged that the Modi government is not expressing its views with the required clarity on the Gaza crisis and a change is being seen in India’s traditional foreign policy.

New Delhi: The political debate regarding India’s foreign policy has once again intensified. Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has written an article questioning the central government’s stance on the Gaza conflict. In this he alleged that India now seems to be gradually moving away from its traditional pro-Palestine stance and relations with Israel are being given more priority. At the same time, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reacted sharply to this statement and accused Congress of linking foreign policy with vote bank politics.

Sonia Gandhi questions India’s silence on Gaza crisis

In her article, Sonia Gandhi said that the ongoing conflict in Gaza has created a terrible humanitarian crisis. Citing the United Nations report, he claimed that thousands of children have died and a large number of children are injured. He wrote that the international community has failed to stop this crisis and the response of many countries has been weak. According to Sonia Gandhi, the Indian government has also remained relatively silent on the issue, which is at odds with its historical foreign policy.

Allegation of change in India’s foreign policy

The Congress leader claimed that India has always been a supporter of the rights of Palestine, but there has been a change in policy in recent years. According to him, this change can affect India’s global image and moral position. He said that India should play a more visible and active role on this issue and speak openly in support of the human rights of Palestine.

BJP’s counterattack: ‘Congress links foreign policy with vote bank’

BJP rejected Sonia Gandhi’s allegations and said that India’s foreign policy has been balanced and clear. Party spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala said that India has made its position clear in the United Nations several times on the Gaza conflict and has also sent humanitarian aid. He alleged that Congress has been looking at foreign policy from the perspective of domestic politics and vote bank for a long time. According to him, for this reason the relations between India and Israel were not as strong as they are today.

BJP also said that India has always expressed concern over the Gaza crisis on humanitarian grounds and has provided relief material. The party stressed that India’s stance has not been against any one party but in favor of peace and stability. At the same time, Congress says that only humanitarian aid is not enough, but a strong and clear statement is also necessary at the political level.
