Tezzbuzz Desk- Security arrangements have been tightened for the 18th BRICS summit to be held on 12 and 13 September in Delhi. Due to the movement of foreign guests and VVIP convoys, traffic will be affected in many parts of the capital from 11 to 13 September. Delhi Traffic Police has created 22 diversion points. Passengers have been advised to get information about the route before traveling and leave with extra time.
Holiday in schools, government offices and Supreme Court
Due to BRICS Summit, all government, government aided and private schools of Delhi will remain closed on September 11. There will also be a holiday in central and Delhi government offices, autonomous institutions and public sector undertakings. The Administrative General Branch of the Supreme Court has declared September 11 as a holiday for the Court and Registry. The registry will also remain closed on 12th September. However, no general instructions have been issued regarding keeping private offices closed.
Banks will remain open, but traffic problems are possible
Banks will not remain closed in Delhi on 11th September. According to the RBI holiday calendar, there is no bank holiday in the capital on this day. Bank branches will remain open normally, but due to VVIP movement and traffic diversion, customers may face problems in commuting.
Traffic diversion at 22 places
Delhi Traffic Police has created a controlled area in Central Delhi. Under this, the route of traffic can be changed at 22 major places. These include Dr. Dinesh Nandini Dalmia Chowk, Ram Charan Aggarwal Chowk, Guru Nanak Chowk, KG Marg, Janpath, Patel Chowk, RML Hospital, Dhaula Kuan Flyover and Moti Bagh Flyover.
Apart from this, restrictions or diversion may also be implemented on many routes including Madrasa T-Point, Lodhi Road, Neela Gumbad, Oberoi Flyover, Mathura Road, Bhairon Road and Mandi House. Passengers have been advised to use alternative routes after seeing the advisory of Delhi Traffic Police.
Special route for airport goers
A separate route plan has been issued for passengers going to the airport. People going to Terminals 2, 3 and 4 from Gurugram can use NH-48, Rao Gajraj Singh Marg, Old Delhi-Gurugram Road and UER-II.
Those going to the airport from Dwarka have been advised to take the route of Sector-22 Dwarka Road and UER-II. Alternative routes like AIIMS Chowk, Ring Road, Moti Bagh, RTR Marg and Mahipalpur flyover have been suggested for passengers coming from New Delhi and South Delhi. In view of the traffic restrictions, it has also been advised to use the metro to go to the airport.
Restrictions on flights and airport also
Due to BRICS Summit, special security rules will be in force from 1:30 pm on September 11 to 5:30 pm on September 13. Apart from normal flights, only some special flights will be allowed in Delhi and airports within 300 km radius.
Under the rules, regular scheduled airline flights, special flights related to the summit, flights of the Indian Air Force and BSF and emergency helicopter services will be able to operate. Safdarjung Airport will remain closed, while Rohini Helipad will remain completely closed.
