TV actor Rohit Chandel has got relief from the court in the POCSO case. According to the report, his bail was approved on 10 September 2026. The actor is expected to come out of jail soon after the necessary paperwork is completed. Rohit was in custody for about two months.
Case on complaint of minor co-actress
A case was registered against Rohit in July 2026 following a complaint by a minor co-actress. In the complaint, the actor was allegedly accused of harassing and stalking. After this, a case was registered under the POCSO Act at Ghatkopar Police Station and he was detained.
After the arrest, Rohit tried for bail, but he did not get relief on the initial petitions. Now after getting bail from the court in September, his family and close ones have got relief.
The issue of mistakes in records was raised
In this case, Rohit Chandel’s legal team had raised questions on some of the information recorded in the police and medical documents. Lawyers said that some information about the actor was wrongly recorded in the official records.
According to the report, in the police records his profession was written as businessman instead of actor. At the same time, it was revealed that the information about his religion was wrong in the charge sheet. In the medical records, his marital status was recorded as married, whereas Rohit had declared himself unmarried. Rohit’s lawyer had argued that these mistakes in government documents should not affect his case.
Didn’t get relief twice before
Rohit Chandel’s initial bail plea was rejected. After this, his second bail plea was also rejected on 22 July. During this time, the minor complainant had recorded his statement before the Judicial Magistrate. Now after getting bail from the court after about two months, the way has been cleared for the release of Rohit Chandel.
Who is Rohit Chandel?
Rohit is from Shahada in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra. Before coming into acting, he studied science and also played cricket. After this he came to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. Rohit had told in an interview that he had to face rejection about 90 times to get work. After this he got his first commercial and gradually started making his mark in the TV industry.
