Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, a multiple-time former BJP MP and former president of the Wrestling Federation of India, issued a major statement on the controversy surrounding the Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya. He stated on Friday that namaz was never offered at the Hanumangarhi temple. This claim is incorrect. Brijbhushan, one of the most senior leaders of the Uttar Pradesh BJP, said that everyone should know that this Hanumangarhi was built by a Muslim. A stone bearing his name still remains in the temple.
Speaking to the media in Gonda, he said, “Namaz has never been offered at Hanumangarhi. This is a false claim. People should know that Hanumangarhi was built by a Muslim. This is mentioned on a stone there.”
Chief Minister Yogi had claimed
In fact, recently, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused the previous Samajwadi Party government of offering namaz at Hanumangarhi. The BJP in Uttar Pradesh has been attacking the Samajwadi Party since the CM’s allegations, but this statement by the former BJP MP may put the saffron party on the back foot.
People should know the truth
Brijbhushan claimed that the temple’s history is different and that people should know the truth. However, BJP leaders dismissed this as Brijbhushan’s personal opinion.
It should be noted that the Hanumangarhi Temple is located near the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Devotees worship Lord Hanuman here after praying to Lord Ram. Recently, during a rally, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath suggested offering namaz at Hanumangarhi, a claim that former MP Brijbhushan has denied.
