73-year-old Imran Khan is waiting for his death in a small, damp and insect-filled cell of a Pakistani jail. The former cricketer is kept alone for several days. He is not even able to exercise properly because the size of the room is only 6 feet by 8 feet, which also includes the toilet.
There are no windows in his room and sometimes the lights are switched off, so he sits in the dark for days waiting to see something again. Lost 85 percent vision of right eye
It has been more than three years since Imran Khan has been kept in this situation. Here they are facing scorching heat in summer and severe cold in winter. Due to poor and late treatment, he has lost 85 percent of the vision in his right eye. The conditions in which they are being kept have been condemned thrice by the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture in the last two years. Amnesty International has also expressed concern. The biggest thing is that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has also said that the prisoner is not getting proper medical facilities.
Remained PM of Pakistan for 4 years
Imran Khan was the Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022 and his problem has now become a global issue. Since leaving office, many cases have been filed against him for political purposes, the aim of which is to remove him from public life forever. Most of the cases were dismissed except one. The allegation is that Imran Khan's government gave some of the UK government's money to a property developer, who later made a huge donation to a university. This university had relations with Imran and his wife. Pakistan's government lawyers have also admitted that neither he nor his wife have received any financial benefit from the donation given to the university.
Get the right to be heard in an independent court
Even if it is true that Imran has to answer in the so-called Al-Qadir case. Still, he has not done anything to deserve such mental and physical torture. The most important thing is that they should get the right to a speedy hearing on their appeal and to an independent court.
