Bulldozer threat averted on Azam Khan’s Johar University, Commissioner’s decision creates sensation

At present, bulldozer action will not be carried out on the famous Jauhar University of former senior minister of Uttar Pradesh Azam Khan. The Commissioner of Moradabad has put a stay on the decision of the DM of Rampur under which major action was to be taken against the University. Let us tell you that during the investigation, 38 out of total 40 buildings of Johar University were found to be illegal, after which the DM of Rampur had issued a strict order to demolish all these illegal buildings. As soon as this strict order of DM came out, a large number of students gathered outside Johar University and started a vigorous protest. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Moradabad has immediately issued an order and put a stay on this decision of the DM of Rampur. This is considered to be a big relief for Azam Khan’s university, because after the appeal made by the university, this bulldozer action has now been stopped till the final decision on the matter.

What is the complete history and journey of Johar University?

For your information, let us tell you that Mohammad Ali Johar University has been a very big and special dream project of Azam Khan. When Mulayam Singh Yadav was in power in Uttar Pradesh, Azam Khan had established it in the year 2006 as a minister. Jauhar University was officially established on 18 September 2006, but soon after its formation, the Samajwadi Party government left the state and Azam Khan ceased to hold the post of minister, due to which it could not be inaugurated on time. Six years later, in the year 2012, when Samajwadi Party once again made a strong comeback in UP, Akhilesh Yadav became the Chief Minister of the state and Azam Khan was counted among the most powerful ministers of the government, then this university was officially inaugurated on 18 September 2012. At the time when this university was being constructed, Rampur Development Authority had not been formed and all the work came under the jurisdiction of the District Panchayat. Initially, while constructing only 2 buildings, proper approval was taken from the District Panchayat, but after that, no approval was taken for the construction of the remaining 38 buildings.

Demolition order and the whole controversy of land return

Mohammad Ali Jauhar University was under threat of massive demolition action for a long time, due to which the Rampur Development Authority had ordered its demolition. This strict action was taken under Section 27(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Town Planning and Development Act, 1973. In the administrative order, after a long and detailed hearing as well as a thorough examination of all the necessary documents, a total of 38 buildings constructed inside the university campus were declared to be completely illegal constructions and orders were given to demolish them. Let us also tell you that earlier in the year 2021 also, more than 70 hectares of land of Jauhar University was taken back by the government. When the Allahabad High Court completely rejected the petition filed by MP Azam Khan against the decision to acquire the university land in favor of the government, the university was officially snatched from the hands of Azam Khan.
