BYD to launch Leopard 8 Hybrid SUV in India; Patent filed
Chinese electric vehicle major BYD has filed a design patent in India for its Leopard 8 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV. The car is said to be launched soon in India due to the filing of the patent. The Leopard 8 is a body-on-frame, full-size luxury off-roader, available globally under BYD’s sub-brands Fangchengbao Bao 8 and Denza B8. Its Indian design registration is very similar to the global model.
With a range of 1200 km and modern features, this car will be a great choice for Indian customers. The demand for electric and hybrid vehicles is growing rapidly in the Indian automobile market. The BYD company is constantly working on new models and now a patent for a new luxury SUV has been filed in India.
BYD has already made a mark in India with its electric vehicles, but now the company is gearing up to enter the hybrid segment as well. In such a situation, this SUV can become a new and premium option for Indian customers. Currently, the company has not officially announced its launch date. But filing a patent in India is a big indication that the company is gearing up to bring it here. Given the growing demand for hybrids and premium SUVs in India, this could be a huge opportunity for BYD.
The powerful hybrid engine and long-range engine are supported by the BYD Leopard 8 plug-in hybrid system that uses a 36.8 kWh blade battery and a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine. Combined, this system produces around 748 PS of power and 760 Nm of torque, making it extremely powerful. The SUV can run around 100 km in electric mode only, while its total driving range can go up to around 1,200 km.
This SUV is known by many names The new SUV is sold under different names in different markets, but the vehicle is the same. It is known by names like BYD Leopard 8, Fangchengbao Bao 8 and BYD Denza D8. It is a full-size luxury SUV with plug-in hybrid technology. The interior of this SUV is going to get hi-tech features, the interior is quite modern and full of technology. It has a large 17.3-inch infotainment system, which is placed in the center of the dashboard.
Apart from this, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch co-driver screen are also available. The SUV also gets a 50-inch AR HUD, wireless charger, 18-speaker audio system and center console with premium design. Talking about seating options, it can get 2+2+2 and 2+3+2 layouts, making it a good option for larger families as well.
