Cabinet Ministers, MLAs and other public representatives inaugurated 71 new Aam Aadmi Clinics across the state.

Chandigarh: The Punjab Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has strengthened its commitment to provide free and quality health services to the people of the state near their homes by opening 100 new Aam Aadmi Clinics. These new clinics were inaugurated by Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today by inaugurating the newly constructed Aam Aadmi Clinic at Vikas Nagar, Patiala Rural. With the launch of these new clinics, the total number of Aam Aadmi clinics in Punjab will increase to 1,090.

Punjab government opened 100 new common man clinics    

Out of these 100 new clinics, 71 new Aam Aadmi Clinics were inaugurated today by various Cabinet Ministers, MLAs and public representatives across the state, while the remaining 29 clinics will be dedicated to the public by other public representatives in different districts in a phased manner by July 31.

Among the Cabinet Ministers who inaugurated new clinics today, Dr. Baljit Kaur inaugurated three Aam Aadmi Clinics at Ambedkar Bhawan, Dera Sacha Sauda Road, Malout and Ward No. 11, Sri Muktsar Sahib. Shri Lal Chand Kataruchakk inaugurated a clinic in Pathankot city built at a cost of Rs 25 lakh. Shri Gurmeet Singh Khuddian dedicated a clinic to the public at Shri Muktsar Sahib. Shri Hardeep Singh Mundian inaugurated three Aam Aadmi Clinics prepared at a cost of Rs 76.41 lakh in Sahnewal assembly constituency.

Shri Tarunpreet Singh Saund inaugurated three new clinics built at a cost of Rs 87 lakh at Narottam Nagar, Focal Point and Uttam Nagar in Khanna. Similarly, Shri Mohinder Bhagat inaugurated three Aam Aadmi Clinics at Siddharth Nagar, Buddha Mal Ground and Sports and Surgical Complex in Jalandhar. Apart from this, various MLAs and public representatives of the state also dedicated new Aam Aadmi Clinics to the public in their respective areas.

On this occasion, speakers said that Aam Aadmi Clinics have made treatment simple, convenient and affordable by bringing health services closer to people’s homes. He said that with the opening of new clinics, more people will get the benefit of primary health services.

The Government of Punjab has developed an effective model for strengthening primary health services in the state. At present, 990 Aam Aadmi Clinics are running successfully in the state, out of which 414 are established in urban and 576 in rural areas. In these clinics, 107 types of essential medicines and 47 types of laboratory tests are being provided to the people completely free of cost. Medical officers, pharmacists and trained health workers are deployed in each clinic. Registration of patients, examination, treatment and distribution of medicines is being done through modern IT system.

The scope of health services available in Aam Admi clinics has also been expanded. Now services like ante-natal care of pregnant women, dog bite treatment, family planning services, testing and treatment of high blood pressure, diabetes and other non-communicable diseases are also being provided completely free of cost.

The Punjab Government is continuously working to provide quality and free health services to every citizen of the state near his home. With the opening of these 100 new Aam Aadmi Clinics, the reach of health services in the state will become more widespread and strengthened.
