New Delhi: The 36-day-long CJP agitation against irregularities in the NEET-UG examination has now ended. After the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the government accepting the demands, the Cockroach Janata Party announced the withdrawal of the protest on Saturday.
Government accepted all the demands of CJP
CJP held a joint press conference with Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh at the Constitution Club in Delhi. CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said that the government has agreed to withdraw the FIRs registered against the agitators in Delhi and all BJP ruled states. The government will also share copies of the FIR with the CJP.
Das said, "We have given a draft to the government, which is a written guarantee. The government has said that it will be handed over to us by Tuesday. We hope that by then we will get a guarantee from the government regarding the FIR and future action." He also made it clear that some anti-social elements had infiltrated the movement and CJP condemns the incidents of violence.
Victim families will get compensation
CJP national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said that the government has also accepted the demand of Rs 1 crore compensation to the families of NEET candidates who committed suicide. According to Ranka, the government has said that the families "under rules and regulations" Respectable compensation will be given.
Ranka said, "After 36 days of protest, the government has accepted all our demands. Our demands were not strange, they were absolutely basic. Now we appeal to everyone to peacefully withdraw from Jantar Mantar and other protest sites."
There will be discussion on further reforms
JP Nadda said that the government has sympathetically considered every demand of CJP and accepted them. He said that the government will work on the charter of CJP and take necessary steps to improve the examination system. Nadda and Jitendra Singh presented the government’s side in the talks.
Ranka informed that the next round of talks will be held between CJP and the government after about 4 weeks regarding comprehensive education reforms. Dharmendra Pradhan had resigned taking responsibility for the irregularities in NEET-UG.
After this, talks between the government and CJP intensified. Now CJP says that the purpose of the movement has been achieved. The organization has appealed to the students to maintain peace and wait for the written guarantee from the government.
