New Delhi: The central government has approved two important projects to accelerate the infrastructure and industrial development of the country. The objective of these decisions is to strengthen the railway network, increase freight transportation capacity and give a new direction to the country’s chemical industry. The government believes that these projects will also boost employment, investment and industrial development.
Railway project gets green signal
The Cabinet has approved the expansion of the important rail route connecting Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Under this, the third and fourth rail lines will be laid on the Bellary-Guntakal rail section. Approximately Rs 1,264 crore will be spent on this project. With the construction of new lines, the movement of goods trains on this route will be easier and the freight capacity is estimated to increase by about 16 million tonnes.
Employment-environment will also benefit
A large number of employment opportunities are expected to be created during the construction of the railway project. It is estimated that this work will generate employment of about 31 lakh man-days. Apart from this, promotion of rail transport will reduce the pressure on road transport, which is also likely to reduce fuel savings and carbon emissions.
Preparations on Hospet-Hubli rail line also
The government has informed that a detailed project report (DPR) is also being prepared for the development of the rail line from Hospet to Hubli. With this, the rail connectivity of this region will become stronger in future.
‘Bhavya Rasayan’ scheme approved
Along with the rail project, the central government has also approved a new scheme called ‘Bhavya Rasayan’ to promote the country’s chemical industry. Rs 3,030 crore will be spent on this scheme in the next five years. The government aims to create a strong ecosystem of modern chemical industry in India, thereby increasing domestic production and reducing dependence on imports.
Modern chemical park will be built
Under the new scheme, three modern plug-and-play chemical parks will be developed in the country. Facilities like common infrastructure, security arrangements and waste management will be provided to the industries in these parks. The government will provide assistance up to Rs 1,000 crore for the development of each park. This is expected to attract new investments and increase production capacity in the chemical sector.
