Chaos again near Jantar Mantar: Heated clash between protesters and police, many policemen including ACP injured

New Delhi, 22 July. During the ongoing demonstration under the banner of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in the national capital Delhi, a heated clash took place between the protesters and the police on Wednesday night. The miscreants attacked the police near Jantar Mantar between Tolstoy Marg and Sansad Marg at around 8.30 pm. About a dozen policemen including ACP and RAF soldiers were injured in this attack.

Protestors attack police and RAF personnel on Tolstoy Road

According to Delhi Police, this group of protesters suddenly reached Tolstoy Marg, where they started pelting stones at the already deployed policemen and RAF soldiers. Some of the miscreants who committed violence had swords, sticks, stones and Khukris in their hands.

The miscreants throwing stones and bottles were chased away by lathi charge.

After this, RAF and police teams also became active. Additional security forces were called on the spot and the miscreants who were throwing stones and bottles at the security personnel were chased away by using sticks. During this time, one or two shells of tear gas also had to be fired. Some protesters had sticks in their hands, with which they attacked the security personnel. However, due to retaliatory action by the security personnel, the miscreants fled from the spot. In view of the situation, additional teams of Delhi Police and RAF have been deployed on the spot.

Dozens of policemen and RAF soldiers injured in violence

According to Delhi Police, about a dozen policemen and RAF soldiers were injured in the violence. This includes two Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), two Inspectors and other policemen. All the injured were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital for first aid. This crowd of miscreants suddenly attacked the policemen with stones and bottles and ACP Connaught Place was also injured. The senior officer himself took him to RML Hospital. The police administration has been appealing to the people to maintain peace.

Police claim – miscreants also waved swords and Khukris

Police have also claimed that some protesters were seen waving swords and Khukris during the violence. Due to this, security forces took extra vigilance and took necessary steps to control the crowd.

The situation is more tense due to anti-social elements

According to the police, such intelligence is coming to light that some anti-social elements are also coming into the crowd during the night. The situation is becoming more tense due to external anti-social elements. However, the situation in Tolstoy Marg and surrounding areas is now said to be under control. But heavy gathering of Delhi Police and RAF personnel has been increased in the area. Police are repeatedly appealing to the protesters through loudspeakers to maintain peace. However, the police is investigating the entire incident and the people involved in the violence are being identified.

Abhijeet Deepke announced to continue the protest

On the other hand, Abhijeet Deepke, who is continuously protesting at Jantar Mantar, has made it clear that the protest will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. He has said that Sonam Wangchak’s hunger strike will not go in vain. In such a situation, this protest will continue until the government accepts their demands.
