Preparations were also going on in the state
Apart from this, regarding this visit of Gyanesh Kumar, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of the state had declared him as 'State Guest' and all the preparations for security and protocol had been completed. But now after the tour is postponed, new dates will be announced later.
Why was this tour postponed? What is the real controversy?
It is noteworthy that this visit of CEC has been postponed at a time when the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar (CEC Gyanesh Kumar) themselves are at the center of a major administrative and legal dispute. It is alleged that in the three-member structure of the Commission, CEC Gyanesh Kumar took many important decisions despite the disagreement of the other two Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

The petitioners claim that between October 2025 and August 2026, the two commissioners had filed objections at least 14 times. The biggest controversy is over alleged changes in 'Form-6' for registration of new voters without proper procedure.
Now the matter has reached the Supreme Court
Not only this, this entire controversy has now reached the Supreme Court of the country. In the hearing held on October 5, the court refused to immediately suspend Gyanesh Kumar, but issued a notice to the Central Government, Election Commission and other concerned officials and sought their reply. The Supreme Court has made it clear that it will look at the records and check whether the decisions were taken with collective consent or not. Decisions found against the rules can also be cancelled.
