Sweets have a special place in Indian culture, especially during festivals and weddings. Dishes like Rasgulla and Gulab Jamun are liked by everyone. When it comes to Rasgulla, the name of Bengal comes first.
Another famous sweet of Bengal is 'Bhapa Doi', which is steamed in the traditional way. This sweet dissolves as soon as it goes in the mouth. Come, let us know the simple method of making it.
Ingredients required for Bhapa Doi
1 cup thick curd
1 cup condensed milk
half cup milk
a little cardamom powder
finely chopped nuts
How to make Bhapa Doi
– First of all, wrap fresh curd in muslin or cotton cloth and hang it for 1 to 2 hours.
– When all the water from the curd is drained, you will get a thick chakka.
Now put this thick curd in a deep vessel and beat it well with a spoon or whisker.
– Add condensed milk and half a cup of milk and mix well.
– Mix all the ingredients and prepare a thick and creamy mixture.
Now add cardamom powder and finely chopped dry fruits into it.
– Pour the prepared mixture into a steel tiffin or baking dish.
– Cover the vessel well with aluminum foil or lid, so that the steam water does not go into the sweet.
steaming process
Use a kadhai for steaming. Heat two glasses of water in a pan and place a stand in the middle. Then place the covered vessel on the stand and close the lid of the pan. Cook it on low flame for about 15 to 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, remove the lid and check with a toothpick. If the toothpick comes out clean, your bhapa doi is ready. Remove it from the pan and keep it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
